I do not seek to create order, but to understand chaos. The origin is abstract; my attempt is to investigate the concept of interconnectedness and work with the spontaneity exhibited in the process of becoming.
Through observation, research, and (in)voluntary interaction, I look into the state of liminality, the undefined and the invisible, seeking to reconstruct a reality of layered narrative in the middle of transformation where opposing qualities may coincide and feel both natural and disquiet. I translate concepts into imagery through a line-backed visual language, inspired by the spirit of cave painting and Chinese calligraphy. In my work, lines are both the contour and the object, can be visible or buried, suggest a sense of space or flatten it, bringing the work the freedom to reside anywhere between abstract and figurative.
My current projects delve into the redefinition of roles and space through metamorphosis and hybrid mythmaking. Using mythology, spaces from memory, and nature-creature relation as source of inspiration and a starting point, I study topics that imply change, transition, and duality while experimenting on transparency, reflectivity, and the representation of imaginary space with mixed-media materials.
